Dental management of patients with hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia
Dental management of patients with hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia
Z Shehabi and C Morgan
Abstract
As a result of multi-system involvement, patients with hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia undergoing dental procedures may be at an increased risk of bleeding, dental trauma and anaemia. This report discusses the implications of the condition on invasive surgery, sedation or general anaesthesia and explores the controversies with antibiotic prophylaxis.
Key words: Hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia, arterio-venous malformations
