ADDRESS by the Organisers
Welcome to Ghent, Medieval city in Central Europe
For this 20th congress at the 40th anniversary of the International Association of Disability and Oral Health (iADH) the main theme “CARING for QUALITY of LIFE†was chosen. In this regard the content of the plenary programme was mainly decided. The organisers are very happy to present a variety of pre-congress courses, a core programme with parallel plenary sessions and side symposia, key-note lectures and a large number of oral/poster presentations. In this regard we are more than happy that about 230 researchers and clinicians from over 30 countries submitted abstracts. It confirms the growing scientific interest for the improvement of oral health in special care dentistry patients. When science increases, knowledge will increase and as a consequence care will improve. The latter is important, dealing with more reports on quality of life especially in elderly people and people with disabilities. We are looking forward to high standard presentations and to improve our skills in order to deliver better care and reach an improved quality of life for all our patients. Abstracts printed in this special issue of the Journal of Disability and Oral Health are comprised of all the oral and poster abstracts submitted by delegates. The abstracts of invited speakers will be printed in the congress booklet. The organisers are grateful to Stephen Hancocks Limited for having this abstract book ready during the congress.
