Anne T nan y Tynan Publishing, 29 Pembridge Square, London W2 4DS ISBN 0-9530430-0-2 £12 This excellent book was sent to me recently by the author, the lead researcher in a project funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England involving the inclusion of students with disabilities into professions such as Veterinary Science, Medicine and Dentistry. Anne Tynan as the Education Officer at the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow and the Science Museum, London developed experimental art exhibitions for and about visitors with special needs. The book was written as a result of her discussions with disabled people, their families, teachers and carers and also of non-disabled people as a means to express arguments that are topical within the field of disability. Published in 1997, the book incisively questions integration, equality, legislation and bureaucracy, terminology, codes of behaviour and training for life. ‘Adventures in Disability’ aims to provide a step towards the search for ‘The Missing Link of Disability ’ that of securing the position of disabled people within society.
